STUCK AT HOME IN LOCKDOWN?
Now’s the perfect time to kickstart your Fitness for a “New You” this Springtime!
Make the most of your lockdown time to plan your Spring Body! Here are the essential ingredients to start your transformation:
- Good Health is your Priority right now
I probably don’t need to tell you this, but being fit and healthy means more nowadays than anything else. Don’t waste another moment. If you feel a bit behind the eight ball with your current well-being, make a change now!
- Set some Goals
It’s no good saying “you want to lose some weight”, or “you want to improve your fitness”. You need to be more decisive in what you want to achieve. If it’s weight loss you’re after, then set a goal in kilograms, if it’s fitness, decide what you are going to aim for – eg. Run 5km in 30 or 40 minutes, or complete 20 pushups in 1 minute. Then start practicing! Most importantly, give yourself a deadline to achieve your goal and map out a plan to get you there!
Now you need to start where you intend to finish and visualize you achieving your goal. That’s right, if you constantly see yourself achieving whatever it is you want to achieve, you’ll be almost there! Your unconscious mind cannot determine between what is real and what is visualized, so if you can vividly see yourself succeeding your unconscious mind will deliver! Really see yourself in that hot little black dress or completing your first 5km run. Focus on this and you’ll succeed! I promise!
- Water & Sleep
Ok, now’s time to hydrate! Start drinking 2 litres plus of fresh water each and every day. You’ll look and feel wonderful, fully hydrated, full of energy, free from those dehydrated headaches too!
Next work on improving your sleep. Can you retire to bed a little earlier each night to get that extra bit of sleep? Give yourself a pre-bedtime routine that gears you up for a relaxed peaceful sleep. Try to avoid screens in the hour(s) leading up to bedtime. Let yourself fully unwind and relax. Your body will truly thank you for it!
- Don’t Skip Meals!
Enjoy 3-5 small, healthy meals each and every day. I hear from so many ladies that they skip breakfast, and sometimes even lunch too! This is not the way to lose weight! This is starving yourself! Your body will go into starvation mode and will not let go of any of the excess weight because it doesn’t know when it’s next good meal is coming! Feed your body regularly, every 2-3 hours with small nutritious meals and you’ll see the results you are looking for.
- Challenge Yourself!
Keep it interesting and give yourself a challenge! Why walk when you can run? Why sit when you can walk? Always aim for that little extra activity in your day. Enjoying a nice walk outside? Why not take it up to a jog every 5th minute? Or push yourself on a power walk every second minute, then slow it down for the other minute. This style of exercise really works and will help you achieve your goals. Give it a try!
